Project Context

How can design be utilized to authentically communicate and visually represent varying cultures and identities?

Directing this project offered a unique design opportunity to curate a distinctive brand identity for an Afghan-inspired event celebrating the arrival of spring. As a result, the importance of authentically embodying cultural heritage within the visual approach remained crucial in designing a meaningful experience that captured the essence of the celebration while appealing to a diverse audience.

Whilst developing the brand identity, the creative direction highlighted the mundane elements of the culture that individuals tend to overlook. It is the harmony of these smaller fragments that aids in building the foundation of the culture. Researching Afghan textiles, traditional female wear, language and landscapes enabled meaningful motifs to be identified and implemented within the visual language.
